In my opinion...

I have loved Lucy Clarke’s last three novels, and couldn’t wait to read this one, so saved it until I knew I was on a flight where I wouldn’t be disturbed- I wasn’t disappointed. Phew!

It may not have the exotic settings of some of her other novels, but being a Beach Hut owner herself, she describes life in this type of community with accuracy- and who wouldn’t love to have their very own little house on the beach?

Lucy creates real credible characters, the best friend we would all love to have... or would we? There are hints and whispers that all is not quite as it seems. The novel twists and turns as rapidly and relentlessly as the ever present sea, first suspecting one character, then implicating another.

There are secrets, lies, questions are posed; the ending is shocking. I was left asking myself a final question, just what would you do for your own child?

This is a fabulous read to take on your holiday, or if you’re not going on holiday- help you imagine you’re on holiday!
