Best Day Ever

In my opinion...

Loved it, couldn’t stop reading it.

If you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors and Last Seen, you will want to read this book.

With perfect timing it has arrived just in time to be a recommendation for a can’t put down holiday novel.

Paul is our horribly convincing unreliable narrator. So charming. Such a narcisstic sociopath. He controls the reader and the story in the space of just one day. The only time the point of view changes is, symbolically, at the end of the story.

The relentless passage of time, using short chapters, makes it hard to leave. This is done so cleverly, we are effortlessly given so much information. The narrative flows, full of natural conversations, memories, but every so often we pulled up short by one of Paul’s matter of fact comments. Which gradually become more & more extreme as we are pulled further into his world and see into his imagination.

I’ve got to be careful as to what I say, as I don’t want to include any spoilers. I would suggest you set an afternoon aside, and settle down, preferably by a pool, and just read it!
