I Know Who You Are

In my opinion...

I was excited to receive this book through the post- its bright, sunny cover invited me to dive in, but once I got inside, I found a dark gripping story waiting.

The story immediately presents us with a confessed unreliable narrator, Aimee Sinclair, an actress, which sounded a warning bell as I determinedly tried to work out who had done what during the course of the novel. Aimee’s husband has disappeared, and she seems surprisingly disinterested, which is also a concern for the police. What secrets is she hiding?

We then have a separate timeline going back to 1987, when a young girl, Ciara, tells her story. I am usually reluctant to read novels which are told from a child’s point of view, but this is extremely well done and the strong plotting does not ease off at all. I found the youngster’s comments perceptive and they made me think how strange some of our sayings must sound without explanation.

The tension is maintained throughout the two timelines, and it is only at the end that the final twists fall into place.

I had a few concerns about the novel, but not enough to slow me down and prevent me wanting to find out what happened. It is sinister and dark, there are some extremely uncomfortable moments in the back story, which readers could find distressing, but they are part of the story and not just gratuitous.

Ultimately, I wanted to know who Aimee is, and what she did- I wonder, will you be more successful at guessing than I was?

Want to know more?

I know exactly who you are. I know what you’ve done. And I am watching you.

When Aimee Sinclair comes home and discovers her husband is missing, she doesn’t seem to know what to do or how to act. The police think she’s hiding something and they’re right, she is – but perhaps not what they thought.

Aimee has a secret she’s never shared, and yet, she suspects that someone knows. As she struggles to keep her career and sanity intact, her past comes back to haunt her in ways more dangerous than she could have ever imagined.

I Know Who You Are will leave your heart pounding and your pulse racing.

This is the most twisted thriller you’ll read all year

My rating...

A cracking 4 glasses of suspense

I was drinking...

No, I was gulping down an elderflower and prosecco cocktail, as the tale twisted more and more!
