The Guest List

In my opinion...

I loved the Hunting Party, so was very excited when I had the opportunity to review Lucy Foley’s latest novel.

The concept of getting a group of people together as in traditional Agatha Christie ‘whodunnits’ has always intrigued me- so this novel had me hooked from the start- a bunch of friends, a wedding, an isolated island, what on earth could go wrong…cue cynical laughter, everything of course.

I couldn’t put it down.

The dialogue is fast paced, the imagery is chilling and evocative. The PoV varies but all characters are easily identifiable from their very strong narrative voices. The author writes in a style that I really enjoy, and I’m looking forward to book 3 already!

On an island off the windswept Irish coast, guests gather for the wedding of the year – the marriage of Jules Keegan and Will Slater. Old friends. Past grudges. Happy families. Hidden jealousies. Thirteen guests. One body. The wedding cake has barely been cut when one of the guests is found dead. And as a storm unleashes its fury on the island, everyone is trapped.

All have a secret. All have a motive. One guest won’t leave this wedding alive . . .

My rating...
