Good Husbands by Cate Ray

In my opinion...
Every year I bid for books in the Children in Read auction which is held around the same time as the Children in Need event.
In 2024 one of the books I successfully bid on was Good Husbands. I had not heard of Cate Ray previously, but found the cover attractive so it made its way rapidly to the top of my TBR pile.
From then on I found it hard to put down.
It is described as a psychological thriller, but actually it covers many issues including power and consent. I found the novel compelling but challenging and also uncomfortable.
The plotting is strong, the three main characters are engaging and credible. A thought provoking read.
Cate included a charming note in with my book- hoping that I would enjoy it. I can confirm to her that I did, that it was obvious that she enjoyed writing about female camaraderie and friendship, and I will be looking out for her next novel The Younger Woman to be published this year.
