The Hike by Lucy Clarke

In my opinion...

The Hike

And off we go, yet again, on another adventure with Lucy Clarke- personally I think her husband is very brave to go anywhere with her, as so much always seems to happen on her trips!

As usual, I raced through this novel, totally caught up in the plot, visualising the scenery,- so dominated by the mountain- the weather & caught up with the characters. All four women have distinct personalities, totally credible & the movement of the viewpoint enables the reader to see the story from different angles.

The accolades which Lucy is already receiving from fellow authors are deserved, as time and again during the course of the novel, I tried to examine just why she’s so successful in her writing, compared to other novelists. Why do I feel totally immersed in another world? Her twists are subtle not signposted and her pace is strong & carries you along. My conclusion is that she’s just a cracking writer! For those of you who aren’t fortunate enough to have read an ARC, only a few days to go- publication date is 27 th April, just in time for some bank holiday reading.

THE PERFECT DAY FOR A HIKE

Leaving behind their everyday lives, four friends hike out into the beautiful Norwegian wild – nothing between them and the mountain peak but forest, sea and sharp blue sky.

THE PERFECT PLACE TO DISAPPEAR

But there’s a darker side to the wilderness. A woman went missing here one year ago, scarring the mountain with suspicion and unanswered questions.

Now, the friends are hiking into the heart of the mystery. And waiting on the trail is someone who’d do anything to keep their secrets buried – and to stop the group walking away alive . . .

My rating...

April is proving to be an excellent month!

Thank you HarperCollinsUk & NetGalley for my ARC of this novel
