A Hercule Poirot mystery by Sophie Hannah

In my opinion...
I’ve read several of Sophie Hannah’s novels previously, but this was my first Hercule Poirot mystery, so as an Agatha Christie fan, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I needn't have worried!
From the opening of the novel set on a Greek island at New Year, I was hooked, the scene was set and the characters introduced.
I read a lot of psychological thrillers, where the pace is very different, but with this classic novel, set in the 1930s, I relaxed into the descriptions, the build up of personalities and the gradual reveal of secrets.
There were enough red herrings to keep me guessing, but all clues were satisfactorily explained by the end. I enjoyed Hannah’s style of writing a great deal.
I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to read this novel and will definitely read some more of the author’s Poirot mysteries.
Thank you HarperCollinsUk, Harper Fiction & NetGalley for my ARC.

New Year's Eve, 1932.
Hercule Poirot and his good friend Inspector Edward Catchpool arrive on the Greek island of Lamperos for a little holiday…or is it?
Catchpool suspects Poirot has a different reason for being there ― one he won't reveal. As the clock ticks towards the New Year and a festive guessing game takes a sinister turn, can Poirot stop a murderer who is determined to strike before midnight?
My rating...
This is going to be a great read for Poirot lovers over Christmas/New Year, so a solid 4 glasses
of bubbles is merited!

Cheers!
